PDI engineers its kiln heating systems to utilize existing wood waste thereby eliminating the need for natural gas, particularly in Kiln Dried After Treating plants where natural gas use is common. Natural gas is not only extremely expensive, but it is also a huge environmental issue due to Nox emissions. PDI also provides a Zero Ash option, a feature that guarantees zero ash carry over to the lumber inside the kiln. Zero ash reduces the risk of fires and planer wear in lumber mills. Typical zero-ash systems that utilize wood waste require a boiler, but PDI-engineered kiln heating systems do not. PDI kiln systems eliminate the need for a boiler through custom air-to-air heat exchange.
